Nandgaon is a sacred village believed to be the home of Lord Krishna’s foster father, Nanda Maharaj. It is famous for its large temple dedicated to Krishna and Nanda Maharaj, situated on a hill. The village hosts unique Holi celebrations, attracting devotees who participate in Lathmar Holi and traditional Krishna bhajans. Nandgaon’s serene ambiance and historical connection to Krishna’s childhood make it an important pilgrimage site. Kokilavan is a renowned pilgrimage site near Kosi, associated with Lord Shani, the Hindu deity of justice and discipline. The Kokilavan Dham is dedicated to Shani Dev and also includes shrines for Krishna and Radha. Pilgrims visit this temple to seek blessings from Shani Dev, particularly to resolve issues related to planetary influences. The temple’s serene environment, surrounded by forests, gives it a tranquil vibe, attracting devotees from across India. Kokilavan is also celebrated for its association with the sound of the cuckoo (kokila), symbolizing the melody of devotion and harmony in the presence of Krishna and Shani Dev.
